Historical Background of education in District

Damoh is a backward District having majority of villages where people are engaged in agricultural and other labour works. Also there is a superstitious values and social imbalance the educational scenario of district was not satisfactory in the past. Although there are several schools in district were established by Britishers the educational facilities were not sound. After independence much has been done in this field to improve the educational facilities but much is needed to improve it further. To make the primary education within the reach and for all primary going children primary school have been established under DPEP project to achieve the target of universalization of primary education. After achieving the target of availing primary education the task of achieving target of universalization of Elementary education of 5-14 age group children several steps have been taken up including establishment of at least one middle school in the sphere of 3 km. radius their maintenance, educational quality, availability of teacher and development of infrastructures so as to make the educational facility up to elementary level more effective and fruitful. The task of universalization of Elementary Education has been taken under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Much work has been done under this Abhiyan  and the process is going on to achieve the target of universalization of Elementary Education thus providing education to all 5-14 age group children.

 

Apart from elementary institutions upper level institutions are also established within the reach so as to take full advantage of Elementary Education. Thus various educational institutions are engaged in the district for providing education at different levels. The following educational institutions are functional in the district
